The 7h Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium themed UNESCO Global Geoparks Building Sustainable Communities was held from September 4 to 11, 2022 in the Satun UNESCO Global Geopark, Thailand. The Symposium was organized in a hybrid way, comprising the meeting of UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, GGN Executive Board, APGN Advisory Committee, APGN Committee and Youth Forum. 

On the morning of September 6, 2022, within the framework of the 7th International Conference of the Global Geopark Network in Asia and the Pacific (APGN), a meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Global Geopark Network in Asia took place at Songkhla Rajibhat University, UNESCO Satun Global Geopark, Thailand. Attending the meeting were Mr. Niclolas Zourus, President of Global Geopark Network, members of Advisory Committee of Global Geopark Network in Asia Pacific. The delegation of Cao Bang province led by Mr. Hoang Xuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Bang province attended the Conference and presented the dossier to become the host of the 8th APGN Symposium. 

The Advisory Committee also evaluated Cao Bang's candidate to host the 8th APGN Symposium 2024. Through monitoring Cao Bang's candidate profile report and exchanging discussions, all members of the Advisory Committee agreed to organize the 8th APGN in 2024 in Cao Bang. Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark is highly appreciated for the heritage values in the Geopark area, human resources as well as the infrastructure system for the organization of the Conference.

At the Closing Ceremony on 10th September, the delegation of Cao Bang province received the flag to alternately host the 8th APGN in 2024 at Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark. This will be an opportunity as well as a challenge for Cao Bang to affirm its ability to organize international events and also bring Cao Bang's image closer to the international community.

The 8th APGN promises not only to be an explosive destination for tourism but also for the culture, economy and foreign affairs of Cao Bang province.
