Tour de Karangsambung-Karangbolong National Geopark
2nd of december was my trip to Karangsambung-Karangbolong National Geopark. “The Best Evidence in Plate Tectonic Theory and Conical Karst Landscape”
Is truly mark the GNKK, where Karangsambung is the mandatory place that every geologist in Indonesia have to visit, it has up to 4000m karst above sea level that shows the original landscape of Java’s island subducted from below sea. *my Institute, ITB geologist know this so well.
It was at 4 AM, that I finally arrived with train from Jakarta to Kebumen. Thanks to Dimas @dimassstu_ and Rizki @rizkikuur for their kindness allowing me to rest before meeting with the official of GNKK.We had a quick but fulfilling discussion, with pak Chusni as the head of GNKK and along with chair of GNKK Youth Forum, Riza @riza_r11
We continued our journey to visit Karangbolong(it is quite far to the south, we do not have time to visit Karangsambung as it will consume much time) and walk to witness the amazing Pantai Menganti!( definitely you guys need to go here, the view and place beat Nusa Penida) then we went to the Jatijajar Cave, with the special accompaniment from mas Irfan @irfanbharata . This Cave is one of the prove that once Java island ross up from the bottom of the sea.
Finally we came back to the city and thanks to Youth Forum @gkkyouthforum to have accompanied me and gave some geoproducts! Coffee Buayan, banana chips are indeed give best taste ever! Not to mention that on early morning, we tried Penggel, a local food served with rice and Gori vegetables, added with cow’s lung or intestines…wrapped up with banana’s leaves.
NB : 1 day will never be enough. You need to stay at least a week to visit GNKK.
Semangat Pemuda, salam geopark!
